Coronation Day
Early in June 1953, crowds of airmen piled into the NAAFI to watch 'Coronation Day' on the newly-installed
television sets. A Parade and Carnival took place in the village with the Station Band being called out again to give some music for the Carnival.
The Station Catering staff also helped with an 'Ox Roast'.
Four days later the Band 'Beat the retreat' to end festivities,
during a week which had seen 12,000 people had come to watch Moreton's celebrations.
On the 8th June the station commemorated the Coronation by having a group photo of all of No.1 FTS's Officers and NCO's
