While waiting for the start of his course, new arrival, J L
Yeomans (2482271) was included in a group of airmen picked to lay out a
complete field hospital inside one of the main hangars. This took up the whole
of the floor space!
Every Wednesday there was sports in the afternoons, but, so he could get the
needed chitty to leave the airfield and see some of the countryside
surrounding, John decided to join the Station Cycling Club.
Just before Christmas with training complete and having received their coverted
'collar dogs', John and some of his colleagues were marched down to the local
woods to locate a Christmas tree for the Station NAAFI.
This was soon done and the tree carried back on the lads shoulders.
